Canadian English Language Proficiency Index Program (CELPIP)
Course Overview:
The CELPIP Test allows test takers to demonstrate their ability to function in English. The test clearly, accurately, and precisely assesses a test taker’s English abilities in a variety of everyday situations, such as communicating with co-workers and superiors in the workplace, interacting with friends, understanding newscasts, and interpreting and responding to written materials.
The CELPIP Tests are Canada’s leading general English tests for immigration and professional designation.
Course Objectives:
1. Develop Language Proficiency: Enhance language skills in English, including grammar,
vocabulary, pronunciation, and fluency, to achieve a higher level of proficiency required for
the CELPIP exam.
2. Test Familiarization: Familiarize students with the format, structure, and question types of
each section in the CELPIP test to build confidence and reduce test-related anxiety.
3. Listening Skills: Improve listening comprehension abilities through exposure to a variety of
audio materials, lectures, and conversations, while learning note-taking techniques.
4. Reading Strategies: Master effective reading strategies, such as skimming, scanning, and
critical analysis, to comprehend and answer questions related to different types of texts.
5. Writing Techniques: Develop strong writing skills for both the Academic and General Training
modules. Learn to write coherent essays, reports, and letters, and practice time management
during the exam.
6. Speaking Confidence: Enhance speaking skills and gain confidence in expressing ideas,
opinions, and thoughts during face-to-face interviews with simulated CELPIP speaking tests.
Course Duration:
The CELPIP Preparation Course typically spans 6 to 12 weeks, depending on the intensity of the
program and the students’ language proficiency levels at the beginning of the course.
Course Structure:
1. Diagnostic Test: Students undertake an initial assessment to identify their strengths and
weaknesses, enabling the instructor to tailor the course to individual needs.
2. Classroom Instruction: Engaging lessons covering all aspects of the CELPIP exam, including
language skills development, test-taking strategies, and practice sessions.
3. Practice Tests: Regular mock tests to assess progress and provide students with an
opportunity to experience real exam conditions.
4. Speaking Workshops: Group discussions, role-plays, and one-on-one speaking practice
sessions to boost confidence and fluency.
5. Personalized Feedback: Individualized feedback and guidance from experienced instructors
on areas for improvement.
6. Study Materials: Access to a wide range of CELPIP study materials, sample questions, and
practice exercises.
Assessment and Certification:
Students’ progress is continually monitored through quizzes, assignments, and mock tests. Upon
successful completion of the course, students receive a certificate indicating their participation and
completion of the CELPIP Preparation Course.
Course Prerequisites:
A basic understanding of the English language is recommended for students enrolling in the CELPIP
Preparation Course. Additionally, students may take an initial placement test to assess their language
proficiency level and ensure appropriate placement within the course.
Note: The CELPIP Preparation Course does not administer the official CELPIP exam, and students will
need to register separately for the official exam at an accredited testing centre.
Whether students are aiming to study abroad, seek employment opportunities, or immigrate to an
English-speaking country, the CELPIP Preparation Course equips them with the necessary skills to
achieve their goals and succeed in the CELPIP exam
